Our shooter:
An apparent case of multitasking ended with a bang for one Lee County sheriff’s deputy.
Cpl. Ross DiPasquale was working a security shift July 14 at the Lee County Justice Center when he accidentally fired his Glock .45 caliber pistol.
DiPasquale was sitting in the restroom and decided to give his gun some extra attention. As he sat there with gun in hand, a bullet suddenly fired from the weapon’s barrel.
Perhaps he'd be better off playing with his "other gun" in the restroom.
“He decided to do something, cleaning or checking or whatever he did with that gun, there was an accidental discharge,” Scott said. “Nobody heard the shot.”
Scott issued DiPasquale a written reprimand and ordered him to undergo remedial weapons handling courses.
DiPasquale works as a detective in the major crimes unit. He earns $60,431 a year. He was working overtime when the incident occurred, Scott said.

Well needless to say, we are not very happy with the report written by the deputy who shot Coco. The deputy did admit to shooting our dog twice, but now we are being told that he did it with a 00buckshot round from his shotgun. He stated that Coco was charging him and that the first shot did not stop him, and Coco was running so he fired again. Let me stop there because all of the pictures show that Coco was going away from the deputy as well as him being shot totally opposite of an oncoming attack. To continue adding salt to our wound, the female neighbor that has a restraining order against us wrote a signed statement saying that my dog was trying to get in her bedroom window in the front of her house, funny thing is her bedroom is in the back of the house. She also stated that she was outside when we arrived and heard us using the N word and threatening the officer. First of all that did not happen, second of all she was not anywhere to be seen when we arrived in our backyard. The only thing that gave us a chuckle in this report was that they printed out some of the post that myself or my husband had posted and filed them in with the report. There were even a few post that were from our supporters. We take this as a small mark for Coco, because it must have hit a nerve seeing all the support that was flooding towards our family. Again we want to thank you for that. This is a speed bump for us but we will recover. It seems right now that the two officers are covering for one another to make sure it doesn't look like they did anything wrong and they used our neighbor(worst enemy) to collaborate their story. We knew this was probably going to be the case, but it is still a blow. It just seems that when a little light shines on us and we start to feel like we are making progress, we get a blow like this. We will continue our fight and we will not rest. In the morning in the Fort Myers New Press there will be an article, we don't know how big it will be, but please read it and let us know your thoughts. We will be scanning it and posting it as soon as we ourselves have a chance to read it.
hi, very sorry for your loss. the deputy was in the wrong for not attempting to call you ASAP and of course for murdering coco. your neighbors sound horrible too!
ReplyDeleteafter first reading the news article i got the impression that the owners were ultimately at fault because the dog was loose. if you can elaborate the fencing situation, maybe post some pics to help clear up that it wasn't your fault.
i read in previous comment about bricks being moved maybe or being in the process of building something better? not sure how secure that is, but if you can prove that the fence was safe, it might help your fight for justice.
I thought that you had stated that you have survelance cameras. Is there not video of what happened that night that can be used to prove the deputy was at fault? I feel so many times that these police officers feel they are above the law. They do so many cruel and heartless things and get away with it. Just know that Karma is a bitch and they will have to meet their maker. They are the ones that have to sleep at night with this weight on their shoulders. Have faith and keep strong. In some way justice will be served. Good Luck
ReplyDeleteI too am one of the people who knows what happened. Although I wasn't physically there I have called the cops several times for watch because of threatening neighbor. They are real ghetto people no matter what color. I truly believe this was a set-up of some sort, because nothing got recorded--like the elec. got shut off, I believe the security was fooled with somehow. Knowing everything, I don't believe this ALL was a coincidence! Think about it!?! This particular case really needs to be investigat4ed by the FBI very deeply. No single family has all of the so called coincidences all the time!!!All of you out there really need to see the public website on the criminal neighbor, and he is only half of the problemhe has a girlfriend & child. They create very much havoc, you have absolutely no idea!?!
ReplyDeleteHello, I too am very sorry that this all came about. I have a dog TRAINED to bite, We will be glad to come over and hang out with you...
ReplyDeleteLike I told you in e-mail, officers have started or drawn a gun on my dogs, I was there to stop it, thank God. Sorry you have a bad neighbor as well.
We will pray for you and my dog Max says he will be glad to come over anytime! I bet if your dog had been a poodle or lab it would have been taken to the S.P.C.A. and not shot!! no matter how it acted.
